A December circle to remember the deeper meaning of this season and nourish our Light!
While we don’t celebrate Advent much these days, our ancient ancestors once honored the weeks before the Winter Solstice as a sacred season — a time to court the Light – both without and within. It was a period for turning inward and gathering in community, when people lit candles upon wooden wheels to symbolize the turning of life’s wheel and the ever-changing cycle of the seasons.
December was a waiting period. Advent literally means, “anticipation”…waiting for the Light.
Not a time to plant seeds and set new intentions, it’s a time to patiently sit with the dark and see what wants to emerge through us. To participate in rituals that connect us with Nature and the more-than-human world.
